Dentures are one of the most inexpensive ways to replace missing teeth. If you are missing your front teeth, it can be very embarrassing, and it can also be difficult to eat, or speak. The answer to your problem may be a flipper.
A flipper is not so much a denture as it is a retainer with prosthetic front teeth. Normally, it is used as a temporary fix while a person is waiting to have their dentures made or repaired. It is easily “flipped” out of position with your tongue, hence the name. Despite that fact, you should leave it alone while it is in your mouth. Flippers are not as strong as dentures, and should be treated with care. It may take a while to get used to wearing one, but you will quickly learn to eat and speak with it in. There should not be any pain or pressure associated with wearing a flipper, and you should have your dentist adjust it, if it causes you any discomfort.
Dark-colored foods and drinks can stain your flipper, so adjust your menu accordingly. You will need to gently clean your flipper every night using a mild soap or a denture cleaner, and a soft-bristled toothbrush or denture brush. When you take it out at night, place it in a denture-soaking solution to keep it moist and clean.
Again, in most cases, dentures are meant as a temporary solution. However, they are less expensive than dentures, and if finances are a concern, you should talk with your dentist about using a flipper to replace your front teeth.
